BBC Pundit Names 2 United Players, Alongside Chelsea And Arsenal Stars, In His Team Of The Week

Garth Crooks has selected Manchester United pair Andre Onana and Diogo Dalot in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The BBC pundit begrudgingly included Onana after keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool at Anfield. He said he still doesn’t rate the Cameroon international but he had nicer things to say about Dalot:

“The man who I thought played with his heart and not his head was Diogo Dalot. The Portugal international had a fine game and was naturally frustrated when the referee didn’t give him the throw-in when the United defender was convinced he deserved it.”

Crooks is, of course, referring to Michael Oliver’s decision to send off the fullback after two bookings for dissent. It didn’t ultimately have a bearing on the result, but he will be missing when Erik ten Hag’s side take on West Ham this weekend.

Dalot was excellent up until his red card

The 24-year-old is not always known for his defending but he made some crucial tackles and interceptions to prevent Liverpool from posing a threat on the counter-attack.

Dalot was particularly effective when he was going up one-on-one against Luis Diaz, who he nicked the ball off several times. The Colombian international can be a very tricky player to face due to his strong dribbling skills but the United defender was more than up to the task.

Who else made it into Crooks’ Team of the Week?

The pundit went with a back three, selecting Everton’s James Tarkowski and Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno alongside Dalot.

In midfield, Chelsea winger Cole Palmer, Newcastle’s Lewis Miley, Everton’s Amadou Onana and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise were named.

Up front, Crooks selected West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus and Villa forward Ollie Watkins, who all got on the scoresheet for their respective teams at the weekend.
