Manchester United defender Raphael Varane rolled back the years as he put in a top-drawer display in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Sunday evening.
The World Cup winner made an astonishing 15 clearances, helping the Red Devils keep a clean sheet at Anfield.
Supporters on X were full of praise for Varane after the game, with some questioning why manager Erik ten Hag has not used the centre-back on a more regular basis in recent weeks:

Why has Varane not been playing?
Fans are right to ask about the Frenchman’s lack of game time. He has had a couple of minor fitness issues this season but he has been available for selection more often than not.
However, after starting the season as first-choice, Varane has fallen out of favour over the last couple of months. Based on his performance versus Liverpool, though, he deserves to be reinstated as a regular starter.
The draw gives United and ten Hag some breathing room
With some absentees due to injuries and suspension, getting a point at Anfield is a creditable result. It will certainly ease the pressure on ten Hag after defeats to Bournemouth and Bayern Munich.
United do, however, need to back it up when they travel to face West Ham at the London Stadium this weekend.
