United Named As One Of 3 Clubs Tracking Spanish Midfield Maestro With 128.6M Release Clause

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, according to reports in the Spanish media.

It is believed the 26-year-old has been told he can leave the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium this summer if a club makes a satisfactory bid.

Niguez’s current release clause stands at €150m (£128.6m) but he is likely to be sold for a figure substantially below that amount, with reports earlier this month suggesting he could available for around the €60m (£51.4m) mark.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Chelsea are also interested in the Spanish international so it looks as though there could be a large number of Premier League teams pursuing the player’s signature.

It is fair to say that Niguez struggled for form last season, scoring two goals and providing just one assist in 41 appearances but, if he does end up at Old Trafford, he would definitely improve manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s options in the middle of the park.
