Manchester United are interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White, according to Sky Sports. The Red Devils are said to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, along with Chelsea and Tottenham.

Back in October, Liverpool were also linked with the centre-back and it was reported at the time that the Seagulls would demand up to £50m for the player.

Whether United would agree to match such a high asking price, it is questionable, especially as another target, RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, is available for €42m (£38m) next summer.

There have been claims in recent days that the Red Devils are actively seeking a new centre-half, with Villarreal’s Pau Torres having also been mentioned as a potential option, so the fact that they are monitoring White’s progress is not surprising.

The defender impressed whilst out on loan at Leeds United in the Championship last season and he has continued that form with Brighton in the top flight this campaign.
