31M Signing Linked With Shock Exit As United Plan Radical Overhaul Of Defence

Manchester United centre-half Victor Lindelof is among three centre-backs who could leave Old Trafford by the end of the season, according to TEAMtalk.

The website claims that the Swedish international, who was signed for an initial €35m (£31m) from Benfica in 2017, could be sold as the Red Devils look to make a number of changes to the backline.

Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly are also expected to leave, with the latter possibly being used in a bid to sign Lindelof’s replacement. Villarreal’s Pau Torres has been a target of United’s for a while but his €60m (£54m) release clause is proving prohibitive.

The defender, who has also been linked with Manchester City and Arsenal in the past, could be signed in a part-exchange deal, with Bailly moving in the other direction to re-join the club he signed from in 2016.

Who Lindelof would be sold to, it remains to be seen. The Swede has been in pretty decent form this season so it is a surprise his name is being linked with a departure from United.
