‘Great News’ ‘Awesome’ – Fans React As United Get Triple Injury Boost Ahead of Tottenham Clash

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful that at least three first-team players will return from injury to face Tottenham this weekend.

The Red Devils currently have 11 absentees but, speaking after the 2-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup on Monday night, ten Hag said:

“Some injuries are returning. I think there will be some players. It’s hopeful that they can be back for the weekend, I’m talking about Christian Eriksen, potentially Luke Shaw. Harry [Maguire] maybe, Mason [Mount] I think he needs some days or a week more.”

Fans on X are happy that United will have some key players back in contention for what will be an important fixture ahead of the winter break:

Why have the United trio been sidelined?

Eriksen missed the Wigan match due to illness so the midfielder’s return for the Spurs clash was expected. Luke Shaw has been sidelined for the last three games due to a minor muscular injury.

Harry Maguire, meanwhile, has been out with a groin problem since the beginning of December so he may only be fit enough for the bench on Sunday.

United’s lengthy injury list

As mentioned, ten Hag is having to contend with a number of injuries, which now stretches to double figures after Amad Diallo and Antony were also absent for the Wigan game. The former was ill, while the latter has an unspecified injury.

Mason Mount (calf), Lisandro Martinez (foot), Casemiro (hamstring), Anthony Martial (illness), Victor Lindelof (groin) and Tyrell Malacia (knee) remain on the treatment table.
