Latest Manchester United Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund And 8 Others

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that captain Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane are “doubtful” for the FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.

The Red Devils boss did not specify the nature of their injuries but they are set for late fitness tests before the trip to the City Ground.

Harry Maguire has already been ruled out with a knock and he is being assessed ahead of the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Fernandes and Varane are probably likelier to be in contention to face City at the Etihad than Maguire based on ten Hag‘s remarks.

Expected Return Date – Wednesday 28th Feb v Forest or Sunday 3rd March v City

Rasmus Hojlund is expected to return to fitness within the next couple of weeks, which means he should be available to play before the next international break.

Ten Hag says the Danish international picked up a “small” injury following the win over Luton Town. He did not feature in the 2-1 defeat to Fulham last Saturday and he is set to miss a few more games before his return.

If all goes to plan, Hojlund could be ready to face Everton at Old Trafford early next month.

However, there is a possibility that he will need more time to recuperate so a comeback a week later versus Sheffield United may be considered instead.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 9th March v Everton

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still believed to be a number of weeks away from returning to match fitness. The fullback has not featured since playing in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham at the back end of January.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 16th March v Sheffield United

Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia are believed to have finished the rehabilitation stage of their recovery but they need to gain match fitness.

While Mount has been out since November with a calf injury, Malacia hasn’t played at all this season after requiring knee surgery.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 30th March v Brentford

Lisandro Martinez suffered medial knee ligament damage in the 3-0 win over West Ham at the beginning of February.

The Argentinian international is expected to be back in contention within 8 to 10 weeks.

Anthony Martial is set to be available within the same time period as Martinez. The forward hasn’t played since December after undergoing an operation on a groin problem.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 13th April v Bournemouth

Luke Shaw could miss the rest of the season due to a muscular injury. The left-back was substituted just before half-time during the 2-1 win over Luton. Further assessment suggests that the England international may be sidelined for a few months.
