United In Talks With Promising Winger

Manchester United are in talks to sign Mexican wonderkid Hirving Lozano, according to the winger’s club Pachuca.

United were known to be in the market for a winger this summer, after Mourinho identified the area as a weakness to the side. However, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move said to be all but done, it seems Lozano’s transfer to the club may well be viewed as one for the future.

The Red Devils have have acted fast so far in this summer’s window, completing the signing of free-agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic and £30m defender Eric Bailly, as well as being close to signing Dortmund’s Mhkitaryan and having been linked with a world record move for Paul Pogba.

Lozano, who has scored 21 goals in 91 appearances in Liga MX, appears to be the next player on his way to Jose Mourinho’s new club after Pachuca’s vice-president Andres Fassi announced on Sunday that negotiations between the two clubs were ongoing.

“Already there are negotiations with United – there is still nothing closed though,” he said.

Lozano’s father-in-law has also stirred the pot, insisting that a deal has already been completed and will be formally announced later this summer.

“It’s all done,” he said. “Just missing some details and then after the Olympics it becomes official.”

The 20-year-old has won seven caps for his country and won the Mexican league last season with Pachuca. He is widely expected to represent Mexico at the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Lozano certainly looks like a big prospect and a deal would probably see him put straight into the first team where he would fight for a stating place with the likes of Memphis, Martial and Young.

A potential fee for Lozano has not been discussed, but an estimated value of the player is anywhere from £5m – £15m.
