Manchester United have yet to make their move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara but they are involved in the race for the 29-year-old, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
The German reporter took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that Liverpool remain in talks to sign the Spanish international but, at this stage, there is no certainty where the player will end up:
Update @Thiago6: @LFC are still in talks with @FCBayern. @ManUtd have not yet submitted an offer @SPORTBILD @altobelli13

Some United supporters on Twitter are hopeful that they will beat the Premier League champions to Thiago’s signature, although others are more pessimistic:

Obviously, we won't make an offer. He wants to join Liverpool, so we will only make an offer if that falls through or if he agrees personal terms with us.

already a liverpool player, focus on our own targets and not being dragged into liverpools PR nonsense

The reports coming out of Germany do suggest that Thiago has his heart set on a move to Anfield but things can change quickly. The Reds are not prepared to pay Bayern’s €30m (£27m) asking price and if negotiations do stall, there will be an opportunity for other clubs to step in.
It’s unlikely that United will be the only club monitoring developments, though, with Arsenal having also been mentioned in recent weeks.
