United Forward Stars In Copa America Rout

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez helped Chile to a 4-0 win over Japan in their opening group match of the Copa America.

The 30-year-old scored his country’s third goal with a brave, diving header in the 82nd minute as the South Americans registered a comfortable victory.

It was Sanchez’s first goal for club or country since the 3-1 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup back in January, following the Chilean’s struggles with both injury and form. When he was replaced in the 87th minute, Sanchez was given warm applause from the crowd who appreciated the hard work of the forward who looked much more like the player United thought they were getting when they signed him to that infamously massive contract in January 2018.

Japan have been invited to this year’s Copa America, along with Qatar. Other countries such as Argentina have also been in action.

Neither of United’s Sergio Romero nor Marcos Rojo were selected in Lionel Scaloni’s squad and without them, the team lost their opening game against Colombia at the weekend.

Fred didn’t make Brazil’s final 23 either, with Tite’s side getting off to a winning start with a 3-0 win against Bolivia.

Sanchez’s Chile face Ecuador in their second group game on Friday, with the United star hoping to keep up his good form.
