Barcelona won’t allow midfielder Ilaix Moriba to join pre-season training until he signs a new contract with the Catalan club, according to reports in Spain.

The 18-year-old has less than twelve months remaining on his current deal at the Camp Nou and Barca is said to have told the player that he can either accept the deal that is on the table or face being transfer listed.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all, at various times, been linked with Moriba over the past year, with the Red Devils having established informal contacts with the Spaniard’s entourage back in March.

The teenager does have a €100m (£86m) release clause but that is unlikely to be a factor if Barcelona decide to sell him this summer. Considering he will be available on a free transfer next year, they would have to accept a cut-price deal to offload him now. The Red Devils will, undoubtedly, be keeping a close eye on the situation.
