United Establish ‘Informal Contacts’ With Barca Teenage Prodigy Who Scored His First Senior Goal On Saturday

Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba, according to Diario Gol. The Spanish website claims the Red Devils have already established “informal contacts” with the teenager’s entourage.

It has been a rapid rise for the 18-year-old, who only made his first-team debut in the Copa Del Rey game back in January. Since then, he has contributed two assists and scored his first senior goal, which came in the 2-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday.

Moriba’s current contract at Barca expires in 2022 and United are said to be keen to exploit the situation. There are other reports in Spain claiming the Chelsea and Manchester City are also after the Spaniard but the Red Devils appear to be the ones leading the way currently.

Diario Goal do, however, say, that Moriba would likely prefer to stay at the Camp Nou, following his first-team breakthrough, but we shall see how discussions progress in terms of extending his current deal beyond the end of next season.
