United And Chelsea On Alert As England Star Presses For January Transfer After Contract Talks Stall

Manchester United and Chelsea are both weighing up moves for Southampton fullback Kyle Walker-Peters, according to reports in the UK.

Talks between the Saints and the 25-year-old over a new contract have reached an impasse and the England international is now seeking to leave St Mary’s.

United are in the market for a right-back, with Celtic’s Josip Juranovic also on the club’s radar, but a lot will depend on whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka is sold during the January transfer window.

The £50m signing from Crystal Palace has returned to prominence since the World Cup, having recovered from a number of injury setbacks, but Diogo Dalot is still seen as first-choice by manager Erik ten Hag.

Wolves, West Ham and his former team Palace are all said to be keen on recruiting Wan-Bissaka and, if he does leave Old Trafford this month, Walker-Peters is seemingly one of the options being looked at.

The former Tottenham defender made the move to Southampton (initially on loan) back in January 2020 and he has spent the last three years on the South Coast.
