United And Chelsea Have ‘Already Moved’ To Sign Uruguayan International As They Look To Pounce On Contract Impasse

Manchester United and Chelsea have “already moved” to make Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo aware that they will do everything they can to bring him to the Premier League, according to Marca journalist Jose Felix Diaz.

The reporter claims that the two English clubs are seeking to take advantage of the Uruguayan international’s contract situation at Barca:

Araujo has eighteen months left on his current deal at the Camp Nou but, despite intense negotiations, no agreement has been reached on an extension so far.

The centre-back’s agent, Flavio Perchman, has not been happy with what has been put on the table, and it appears a new contract is a long way from being signed.

It is said that Barcelona need to sell players in order to reduce the wage bill, and that would subsequently free up space to propose a new and improved offer to Araujo. If that doesn’t happen, though, it looks as though both United and Chelsea could be the ones to take advantage.
