United, Chelsea And Liverpool ‘Very Attentive’ As Uruguayan Star’s Contract Talks Hit The Buffers

Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are “very attentive” to Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo’s contract situation, according to Sport.

The Catalan newspaper says that the Uruguayan international wants to stay at the Camp Nou, but no agreement has been reached over a new deal.

Araujo’s current contract expires at the end of next season and, while there is still time for a breakthrough in talks, Barca have, so far, been unable to offer a proposal that the 22-year-old is happy with.

Premier League teams, like United, are believed to be keen on Araujo for a number of reasons. As well as being young and good on the ball, he is excellent in the air, which is a trait that Sport believe has attracted admirers in England.

United have struggled defensively this season so bringing in a player like Araujo could well improve their options at the back. The Red Devils do, though, have other centre-backs in the squad, such as Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, who may need to be offloaded first.
