United And Arsenal On Alert As Key Midfield Target Is Made Available For Just 34M

Leicester may have to sell Youri Tielemans for as little as €40m (£34m) this summer, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

The Belgian publication claims that Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus and Real Madrid are the four teams battling it out for the player, with the Foxes likely to offload the midfielder due to his contract situation.

Tielemans’s current deal at the King Power Stadium expires in 2023, and negotiations over an extension have stalled, so Leicester may have to reluctantly put the Belgian international up for sale.

They feel that his market value is around the €55m (£46.3m) mark but Het Nieuwsblad say sources have told them that a transfer could be agreed for around €40m (£34m).

For a 24-year-old with bags of Premier League experience, that is a bargain, and it is not surprising that United are among Tielemans’s potential suitors.

The Red Devils did not strengthen in the middle of the park during the January transfer window, and with Paul Pogba expected to leave Old Trafford in June, it is an area that needs to be reinforced. A move for Tielemans could well be on the cards.
