United Among Clubs Weighing Up 110M Swoop For Italian International

Manchester United are one of “two to three clubs” who are prepared to push the boat out to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, according to agent Ivan Reggiani.

The Italian played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Juve last season and Reggiani claims the Portuguese international would like to see the 23-year-old join him at Old Trafford:

“I think there are very serious and important foreign pressures on him. Appreciated across the Channel, he is heavily supported by Cristiano Ronaldo. I think Federico can leave Juventus very soon. It can easily exceed one hundred million. There are not only United: there are 2-3 clubs that could reach €120m-€130m (£102m-£110m).”

Chiesa was reportedly the subject of €100m bids from Chelsea and Liverpool last summer, so it is likely those are the two clubs that could rival the Red Devils for the winger’s signature.

Whether manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer actually needs a player like Chiesa, though, it is open to debate. The Italian international generally plays on the right-wing, and United are already well-stocked in that area.

In addition to Mason Greenwood, summer signing Jadon Sancho is also very capable of playing in that role. Chiesa is, undoubtedly, a world-class talent but it seems unlikely that United would break their transfer record to sign him.
