Manchester United have now cooled their interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, according to reports in the England media.
There have been some suggestions that the Red Devils were looking to sign both the Dutch international and Ajax’s Antony before the transfer window shuts.
However, it now appears that Gakpo will not be pursued now a deal for Antony is in place. Most fans on Twitter are not best pleased that United have decided against a double transfer:
This is a huge mistake from united. The forward line is so comfortable, no ambition at all. There is no competition for position.

I think united has to bring Cody because we need many forward players who are clinical

United have spent an eyewatering amount on Antony so it’s not surprising the club have pulled the plug on the move for Gakpo. Even so, he could have provided more competition on the left flank, and he wouldn’t have cost that much either, with PSV expected to sell him for between £35m and £40m.
The 23-year-old has been on the radar of other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds and Southampton so he may still end up in England before the end of the month.
