This England Star Would Be A Perfect Rival For Shaw At United

With United’s focus fully on signing Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka to strengthen at right-back, there has been less talk regarding the opposing flank.

Luke Shaw was named the club’s player of the year last season, but it must be said, there were very few other candidates deserving of the accolade.

Next campaign, with Matteo Darmian expected to return to Italy, Shaw’s only rival for his place on the left-hand side could be veteran Ashley Young.

So, could United perhaps revive a move for an old target? Tottenham’s Danny Rose stated earlier this month that he could leave the London club this summer:

“I don’t know what the future holds now. I’m looking forward to a break. If I’m back at Tottenham next season, great, if I’m not – great. I’ll just have to wait and see.”

“It’s not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club’s run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on.”

“It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on and I’ll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way, I’m prepared for whatever happens.”

At 28 years of age, and with two years left on his contract, Spurs may consider selling up, and United could be one of the names in the frame to sign the player.

After recovering from some injury problems, he went on to make 37 appearances last season, providing five assists, reaching the Champions League final and regaining his place in the international setup.

Both Manchester City and Everton have also been linked with him, but United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be wise to consider Rose as a potential target. This Tottenham fan certainly rates Rose:
