The Five Brazilian Stars Who Have Scored The Most Goals In The Premier League

As we continue our series of articles looking at the top goalscorers in Premier League history from their respective countries, we switch our focus to Brazil.

The samba-style of play is known the world over, and there have been numerous world-class Brazilian strikers who have shown off their skills in Europe.

However, surprisingly, there are no players from the South American country who have scored more than 100 goals in England. In fact, two of the players on this list are best described as wingers.

Press the next page as we countdown the five most prolific Brazilian scorers of the Premier League era.

5) Richarlison (Watford and Everton) – 35 goals

The young forward burst onto the scene at Vicarage Road during the 2017/18 season with Watford, having signed from Fluminense for £11m.

After just one year with Watford, Richarlison was snapped up by Everton for £50m. The Brazilian has got into double figures for goals in all three seasons he has spent with the Toffees.

4) Willian (Chelsea and Arsenal) – 37 goals

A winger, more than a forward, the Brazilian international controversially pulled out of a move to Tottenham before signing for Chelsea in 2013.

Willian spent the next seven years at Stamford Bridge, picking up five major trophies, including two Premier League titles, before making the switch to Arsenal on a free transfer last summer.

3) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool) – 41 goals

The Reds only paid Inter Milan £8.5m for the playmaker in the January 2013 transfer window and it proved to be an absolute bargain. The Brazilian played a key role as Liverpool narrowly missed out on winning the title in 2014.

In subsequent seasons, Coutinho began to score more goals, as well as assist them, and his performances attracted the attention of Barcelona. He was sold to the La Liga giants for a staggering £142m in 2018.

2) Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) – 45 goals

The Citizens paid Palmeiras an initial £27m for the striker in January 2016, beating a number of other high profile European clubs to the player’s signature. He made an instant impact, scoring seven league goals in 10 appearances before the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Jesus hasn’t quite lived up to his early promise since then, with injuries and the presence of Sergio Aguero having limited his goal return somewhat, but at 23 years of age, he has plenty of time to fulfil his potential.

1) Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) – 63 goals

The Brazilian is undoubtedly a forward, but he is no conventional number 9. His primary role in Liverpool’s team is to create chances and free up space for the club’s two main strikers Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

However, Firmino has always had a knack of scoring goals in big games and he is currently a fair distance ahead of other Brazilians in terms of Premier League all-time goalscorers.
