Scholes Names His Favourite To Win The Europa League Out Of The Last Eight

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says his former club have the strongest squad remaining in this season’s Europa League and are favourites to win the competition outright.

The Red Devils secured their passage to the quarter-finals on Thursday night, with an excellent 1-0 away win against AC Milan, and they will face Spanish side Granada in the next round.

Scholes feels it is very much United’s tournament to lose, and it may come down to how the players approach the games between now and May:

“United have the best squad by far left in the competition. I think it’s all down to attitude now. If their attitude is right going into any of these games, they should win these games without a shadow of a doubt. If they get the attitude right from the quarter-finals onwards they should win this competition.”

The bookmakers certainly agree with Scholes’ assessment, with the Red Devils currently favourites ahead of Arsenal to lift the trophy. Unai Emery’s Villarreal are third in the running, with Ajax fourth and Serie A side Roma fifth.

United’s next opponents Granada are the rank outsiders, alongside Dinamo Zagreb, with the Spanish side having never reached this stage of any European competition in their 90-year history.
