Sancho And Varane To Start, James And Lindelof Out: United’s Predicted XI To Play Southampton

After getting the season off to an excellent start with a resounding victory over historic rivals Leeds, Manchester United will be heading to St Mary’s this afternoon high in confidence.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to keep faith with David De Gea in goal against Southampton, but there could be a change in the back four, with new signing Raphael Varane in line for his first start.

The Frenchman could partner captain Harry Maguire in the centre of defence, with Victor Lindelof dropping to the bench. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are likely to start in the fullback positions.

In midfield, Fred and Scott McTominay are expected to keep their places behind Bruno Fernandes, while up front, Jadon Sancho could replace Daniel James on the right-wing for his full debut. Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba will make up the rest of the front three.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Southampton:

De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Fernandes, McTominay, Sancho, Greenwood, Pogba
