Romano Provides Update Following Reports That 68M United Target Has Skipped Training

Manchester United are lining up another offer for Ajax winger Antony, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Reports in the Dutch media on Friday morning have claimed that the Brazilian international skipped training in order to force through a transfer to Old Trafford and Romano says the club know the player is keen on the switch:

Ajax have reportedly already rejected an €80m (£68m) offer from United, but their stance could shift now Antony has seemingly downed tools.

As Romano mentions, there are doubts over whether he will even play for Ajax this weekend following the alleged training no-show.

Clubs don’t really like to help hold of unsettled players, considering they can have an adverse effect on team morale, and Antony’s reported actions suggest he won’t back down in regards to his desire to leave. With United set to make another bid, it’s very possible that it will be accepted.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with the 22-year-old in the past, but the figures being mentioned mean this is very likely to be a one-horse race if a fee can be agreed.
