Romano Makes Big Claim About United’s Interest In Jude Bellingham As He Names The Three “Frontrunners”

Jude Bellingham

Manchester United “are not actively” pursuing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are big admirers of the player but Romano says the sale of the club means they are not in a position to negotiate with Dortmund, with three other teams currently leading the battle for the player’s signature:

“The reality is Manchester United (as of today) are not actively working on the Jude Bellingham deal. They love the player. They would be absolutely excited for Bellingham to join them but the reality is that with the owner’s situation/sale in progress… it is really difficult for Manchester United to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund… At the moment, Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are the three frontrunners to sign Jude Bellingham.”

Of course, the situation could change if United get new owners in through the door pretty quickly. With a sizeable transfer budget in place, you can bet that Bellingham would be near the top of the club’s wishlist.

For the time being, though, it appears the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are making the most headway. It is interesting that Romano doesn’t mention Chelsea, who have been freshly linked over the past week, but, for United fans, it seems that the prospects of Bellingham moving to Old Trafford are pretty low at the moment.
