REPORT: United Line Up Summer Swoop For 50M Rated Former Chelsea Target

Manchester United are interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils are said to be willing to sell David De Gea at the end of the season, but they are not confident about Dean Henderson’s abilities to become the club’s number one straight away.

With that in mind, the club are weighing up a possible swoop for Pope, who is seen by many as one of the top shot-stoppers in the Premier League. Chelsea reportedly tried to sign the England international last summer but Burnley demanded £50m at the time.

Whether that asking price would put off United, it remains to be seen. The Daily Star claim that the Manchester club have also looked at Brighton’s Robert Sanchez as a possible alternative, although the Spaniard would certainly not be an upgrade on Henderson.

There have been a couple of reports this week that United are after a new keeper, but it does seem strange considering it is one of the strongest positions in the squad.
