Report Reveals Why United Pulled Out Of ‘Messy’ Deal For 4.5M South American Wonderkid

Manchester United decided to withdraw their interest in Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo after too many agents got involved in the deal, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils were reportedly in pole position to sign the Ecuadorian international but negotiations began to get “messy” after numerous intermediaries tried to muscle in on the transfer.

Caicedo, who has also been linked with Chelsea, West Ham and Everton, is now believed to be close to signing for Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee in the region of £4.5m.

The Seagulls have had dealings with Independiente del Valle before and this reportedly has played an important role in the south coast club becoming favourites to sign the 19-year-old.

Whether United will regret missing out on Caicedo, we shall have to wait and see, but the club’s zero-tolerance policy on negotiating with multiple agents seems to have put paid to this transfer.
