Concerns over Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood’s commitment was part of the reason why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asked England manager Gareth Southgate to omit the 19-year-old from his squad for the international fixtures this week, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell:
Mason Greenwood is a special talent but there are concerns over his dedication at present. OGS preferred him to stay with #MUFC rather than join England this week.
Habits away from Carrington – aka sleep – could be better. Guidance offered @TheAthleticUKhttps://t.co/VFI66jwNLe

Greenwood has had his issues with injury and illness this season but his lack of game time since the start of the campaign is partly due to worries over the player’s work ethic and dedication to the sport.
It is thought that Greenwood is not getting enough sleep and is not fully committed to making the most of his talent. United have offered to provide guidance to the player, and Solskjaer is believed to be hoping that the arrival of Edinson Cavani, whose experience and dedication to the sport is well known, may help to inspire the youngster.
Whether leaving him out of the England squad will force the forward to pull his socks up, we shall have to wait and see.
