Reliable Journalist Claims United Are In Pole Position To Sign Key Playmaker

Former BBC Sports correspondent David Ornstein has claimed that Manchester United are favourites to land Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison.

Writing in his column for the Athletic (paywall), Ornstein said that sources from the Red Devils, Leicester and Maddison’s own camp are confident that a move to Old Trafford will happen in the next year.

United are in desperate need of more creativity in midfield, and Maddison is seen as one of the most exciting young talents in the country.

So far this season, the 22-year-old has three goals and two assists in nine appearances for the Foxes, and his performances have been attracting interest from a number of clubs.

One report suggested that Leicester may demand as much as £80m for Maddison. Considering he was signed by the Midlands club for only £22.5m just over 15 months ago, United may have to pay a premium in order to bring in the player.
