Ralf Rangnick Has Made One Key Demand That Has Stopped United From Firing Solskjaer

Manchester United have decided against hiring former RB Leipzig head coach Ralf Rangnick as manager, according to reports in the English media.

The Red Devils believed Rangnick could be a good replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the short term, but there is one key demand that has stopped the move from happening.

Rangnick has asked for a role higher up at Manchester United that goes beyond his proposed interim appointment until the end of the season, and that has scuppered the club’s plans to hire him.

United believe keeping Rangnick on as Director of Football or Technical Director could make it more difficult for them to find a long-term successor.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly unwilling to work under Rangnick, while there are also other high profile managers that wouldn’t take too kindly to having someone like the German in ultimate control of the football side of the business.
