We’ve seen plenty of bad-tempered tackles in Premier League history, many of which resulted in a booking – in this list, we’ll be looking at the player who picked up the most yellow cards in Premier League history.

The players in this list have played for a wide array of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United.

We won’t be looking at red cards for this list – we will only be taking yellow cards into account when weighing up our final tallies.

All facts, figures and statistics used for the purposes of this list have been taken from the official Premier League website.

Kevin Davies

Kevin Davies is a name that strikes fear into any central defender. He wasn’t the most prolific or talented centre-forward, but his physicality made him a nightmare to play against.

He had no qualms about entering a full-blooded aerial challenge with his elbows raised – much to the chagrin of his opponents on the receiving end of them.

Davies played for Southampton and Blackburn Rovers during his time in the Premier League, but he is best known for his ten-year stint at Bolton Wanderers.

Lee Bowyer

Lee Bowyer was infamous for his quick temper on the pitch. Even his teammates weren’t safe, as evidenced by his mid-match scuffle with Newcastle teammate Kieron Dyer.

In total, Bowyer collected a total of 99 yellow cards during his time in the Premier League – the same number as the previous entry on the list.

While in England’s top flight, Bowyer turned out for a number of clubs – as well as Newcastle, he also played for West Ham United, Leeds United and Birmingham City.

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney, in his prime, was arguably the greatest player in Premier League history. However, with 102 yellow cards to his name, he was also one of the dirtiest.

A master on the ball, he was likewise a master of the dark arts. Is it any surprise that he was an avid boxer as a youngster?

He played for Manchester United for the majority of his footballing career, but he also spent a couple of spells with Everton – the club where his journey began.

Gareth Barry

Topping the list is Gareth Barry – not only does he have the highest number of appearances in the Premier League, he also picked up a record number of yellow cards.

In total, over the course of his lengthy career, Barry was booked on an astonishing 123 occasions – considerably more than anyone else featured.

He spent the vast majority of his playing career in the Premier League, as he turned out for top-flight clubs such as Manchester City, Everton and West Bromwich Albion.
