Pereira admits he would find it ‘difficult’ to join up with United again

Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira has been fairly impressive so far at Valencia.

The Spanish side find themselves 2nd in La Liga table after a thunderous start to the campaign, and although Pereira has not necessarily been a key talisman in this, he has played his part.

The 21-year-old came on in the second half with his side 1-0 up, and provided an assist for Rodrigo. The game eventually ended up 3-0 to Valencia, extending their streak to seven league matches.

Pereira has started four of Valencia’s 11 league games so far, and has notched three assists and a goal in that time.

With United looking rather thin in wide areas, there has been some suggestion that Pereira could return to Old Trafford in January, with Jose Mourinho revealing in September that the club had inserted a call back clause into his deal.

However, Pereira himself said it would be ‘difficult’ to go back to United halfway through the season.

“When I signed, I knew that this clause existed,” Pereira said in a recent interview. “But now I am calm, focused on Valencia. Nobody called me from Manchester.

“I’m calm, if they want them to go back they’ll call. I want to stay here for the whole season because I’m fit, I feel good… If I had to go back it would be difficult again.”

Pereira admitted he understands Mourinho’s frustrations with him about deciding to go out on loan, and also says he would be open to spending a second season on loan at the Spanish side.

“I could see it from a negative side and think he was angry with me,” Pereira said of Mourinho’s reaction. “But I was always very good to him. We were always honest with each other.

“I think of the positive: If I were not a good player, he would not have said anything in the press, he would have let me go and that’s it. I think he was worried because I left. I have to think about myself now.”
