Paul Merson Predicts The Scoreline As United Take On Everton

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is backing Manchester United to secure a comfortable victory against Everton on Saturday.

While Merson believes that the Red Devils are a better team with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen both available, he still feels they will have enough to overcome the Toffees:

“Sean Dyche has made Everton a hard team to get past, and they will pick up points here and there. They’re not out of trouble just yet. I don’t see them winning three or four games on the trot in the Premier League. Everton have stepped up this month, but I’ve got to go with Man United this weekend. A win here should cement their place in the Premier League top four.”

Merson has gone with a 2-0 win for United, which seems like a pretty fair prediction. Under Sean Dyche, Everton are a well-drilled team but they don’t score a lot of goals.

Erik ten Hag’s side will, therefore, have to be patient and wait for opportunities to present themselves. They are unlikely to be faced with much of a threat at the back so the key is to maintain pressure on their opponents as often as possible.

If they avoid making mistakes and don’t get drawn in by Everton’s attempts to frustrate them, the home side should wrap up the three points at Old Trafford.
