Pau Torres Reveals Future Plans Amid Reports He Could Make 56M Switch To Premier League

Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres has not ruled out a move away from the Spanish club this summer, amid claims that the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are keeping tabs on him.

The 24-year-old reportedly has a €65m (£56m) release clause, and asked whether he was thinking about a potential transfer away from Spain, the defender simply said he remains focused on his goals this season:

“For now, I only think as a player dressed in yellow, I see my life linked to this club. For now, I have a contract here [until June 2024] and I do not see beyond this final or what may come this summer. God willing I can be in the Euros. I only want the first title for my club, for my people, and then to represent Spain in a tournament as big as this.”

Torres is believed to be among the candidates that United are considering to strengthen their options in the centre of defence, along with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

However, it is believed that the Red Devils will prioritise signing a forward or a winger first. They will then see how much of their transfer budget is remaining to then go after a centre-back.

Out of the three potential targets, Torres would likely be the cheapest considering his buyout fee, but we shall see how things transpire over the summer.
