Owen Gives His Prediction As Manchester United Play West Ham

Ex-Manchester United striker Michael Owen is expecting his former team to come out on top in a crucial game against West Ham at Old Trafford this evening.

A victory will strengthen the Red Devils’ chances of finishing in the top four, and the BT Sport pundit says he can’t see anything other than a win for the home side:

“West Ham won the reverse fixture 2-0 and at that point, the Hammers sat three places above Manchester United in the table (5th and 8th respectively).”

“However, given the form of Manchester United at present, I think the difference in class will tell and I expect Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s Red Devils to win comfortably 3-1.”

The Hammers are all but safe, barring an extreme swing in goal difference, so their motivation won’t be as strong as it would have been if they were still in a midst of a relegation battle.

However, as we saw against Southampton, even teams that don’t have much to play for can be a challenge if you are not 100% at it.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will, though, be expecting a reaction from the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend so you can’t see any complacency sinking in. If they do grab the three points, as Owen predicts, they will leapfrog Leicester in the table with just one game left to go.
