‘Offers Would Have To Be Entertained…’ United And Arsenal Are Given Green Light To Sign Villa Starlet

Aston Villa are open to selling midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before the transfer window closes, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 18-year-old has less than a year left on his contract but no new deal has been agreed, and the local newspaper claims “offers would have to be entertained” for the player to prevent him from leaving for a nominal fee next summer:

It is believed that Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Chukwuemeka. Unlike teams on the continent, though, who would only have to pay €340,000 when his contract expires next June, English clubs would have to pay substantially more.

For that reason, it is suggested that United would be better off making a move now. In addition to seeing off interest from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund (who are likely to wait until he is available cheaply), the Red Devils would also not have to go through a tribunal.

That fee could actually be more than Villa are willing to settle for this summer, so we shall see if Erik ten Hag’s side do press ahead with a bid for Chukwuemeka.
