Michael Owen Predicts A Surpising Scoreline As United Take On Leeds

Ex-Manchester United striker Michael Owen is not expecting his former club to pick up all three points when they face Leeds United at Old Trafford this evening.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side tend to create a lot of chances, whilst conceding goals in equal measure, and Owen predicts it could well be an open game between the two sides:

“Leeds are at their best when teams come at them. They are excellent at smothering sides and can really run the legs off you if given the chance.  I think United will need to be wary of that. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done his homework, he may approach with caution as they won’t want to get caught out on the counter-attack.”

“If that materialises, we could be in for a cagey start. However, it only takes one goal to light the touch paper in a derby. I can’t help thinking back to Leeds match against Liverpool at the start of the season. If they approach this in a similar way, I think we could be in for an entertaining match with the sides ultimately sharing the points.”

Owen has gone with a 2-2 draw which could be on the cards considering United’s poor record at Old Trafford so far this season. The Red Devils sit 17th in the form table for games at home, having picked five points from six games played.

They have also been pretty poor defensively on their own ground, having conceded ten, and that will concern manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer going up against a team like Leeds.

The Yorkshire club are heading into the match off the back of a 5-2 home win against Newcastle so Owen is right to warn United fans of the potential dangers of this fixture.
