Michael Owen Delivers Transfer Verdict As United, Chelsea And City Fight It Out For Harry Kane

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen says Harry Kane is well within his rights to leave Tottenham in the search for trophies.

It was reported yesterday that the England captain has asked to leave Spurs, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea leading the battle for his signature.

Owen believes Kane has demonstrated loyalty to his current club and it is now time for him to leave so he can pursue titles:

It remains to be seen what Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will do about the situation. A move to Chelsea would appear very unlikely, considering the rivalry between the two clubs.

City are not reportedly willing to spend in excess of £100m on one player this summer, which could also rule them out if Levy holds out for his reported £150m asking price.

That would, of course, leave United as the favourites but reports in recent weeks have suggested that the Red Devils have switched transfer priorities after snapping up Edinson Cavani for another year. Whether Kane’s availability will change things, we shall have to wait and see.
