REPORT: Manchester United Pull Out Of Transfer Race For Superstar Premier League Striker

Manchester United have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign legendary Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, according to an article by The Guardian.

Last season, despite Tottenham’s disappointing campaign that saw them finish eighth in the Premier League table, Kane still led an incredibly impressive individual season.

In total, Kane netted 30 Premier League goals over the course of the 2022/23 season – making it his third-highest scoring campaign over the course of his career.

Who is leading the race to sign Harry Kane?

Now that United are effectively out of contention to bring Kane to Old Trafford, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG appear to be the leaders in the race to bring Kane on board.

The 29-year-old may not be keen on the idea of moving to one of Spurs’ bitterest rivals – therefore, Chelsea can most likely be ruled out. This leaves Bayern, Newcastle and PSG – of the three, PSG have the most financial muscle, but Bayern have the greatest pedigree.

Additionally, if he wishes to stay in the Premier League, Newcastle could be a good option for him – the Toon will be playing Champions League football next season and are in the ascendency following their 2021 takeover.

Who could Manchester United sign instead of Harry Kane?

Despite United’s apparent failure to secure the signature of Kane, they are not out of options. They could still make a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who has been on their shopping list for several months now.

United also appear keen on the prospect of bringing Rasmus Højlund, who currently plays in the Serie A for Atalanta, to Old Trafford in the summer. Despite this, he only scored nine league goals in 32 appearances last season – as such, this would likely be seen as a downgrade over their top choices.

Additionally, Erik Ten Hag appears keen on the prospect of bringing Randal Kolo Muani to the club. Not only did Muani score 15 goals last season for Eintracht Frankfurt, he also registered eleven assists – he would add both a goalscoring edge and a creative spark to United’s attacking ranks if he is snapped up in the summer.
