Juan Mata: “being a Manchester United player is special”

Midfielder Juan Mata has said it feels “special” to be a Manchester United player and says he still enjoys every moment at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move away from the Red Devils this month – his former club Valencia amongst those interested – after United have failed to offer Mata a new contract.

However despite the stall in extending Mata’s stay at the club, United have insisted the former Chelsea star is not for sale, and Mata too says he has no plans on taking off just yet and continue to love life at Old Trafford.

“Precisely this week marked the fourth anniversary of my arrival at Old Trafford and my first game with the club.” said Mata after United’s 4-0 victory against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup.

“When you become a Manchester United player, nothing will ever be the same. Being part of this club is something very special and I can assure you that I keep enjoying every single game like I did with my debut against Cardiff.

“I’ll never stop thanking you for your support day after day. Thanks to you, being part of this club is really special.”

Speaking in his column on the club’s official website, Mata also hailed the signing of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean won the Man of the Match award on his debut against Yeovil, and Mata believes the former Arsenal star is an excellent signing for the club.

“The final score might say it was an easy win, but it wasn’t: Yeovil Town made things difficult for us and they were a very good opponent.” he continued.

“For Alexis Sánchez that game meant his debut as a Red Devil. His arrival is great news because a player of his level always raises the competition within the team and our competitiveness.

“He’s a great player and I’m sure that he will help us a lot”
