Journalist Reveals United Board Have Blocked Ten Hag From Signing Chelsea Ace Who May Only Cost 8.4M

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag would like to bring in Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech but he doesn’t have the unanimous support of his board, according to France Football journalist Nabil Djellit.

The reporter claims ten Hag “wants to sign” Ziyech as “one of his priorities” but the deal has effectively been blocked by others “within the club”:

It’s likely that ten Hag sees Ziyech as a much cheaper alternative to Ajax winger Antony. Both are left-footed and favour playing off the right flank, but Chelsea are expected to sell their player for a knockdown price.

Despite signing the Moroccan international for £33.6m in 2020,  he is not part of manager Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans, and there are claims that he could be available for as little as €10m (£8.4m), which is pretty much a quarter of what the Blues originally paid for him.

For that price, signing Ziyech wouldn’t be much of a risk for United, but it seems as though he won’t be moving to Old Trafford as things stand.
