Manchester United captain Harry Maguire “confronted” CEO Ed Woodward at a meeting yesterday morning, after being blindsided by plans for the European Super League, according to Daily Mail‘s Mike Keegan.
The reporter, who was one of the main journalists to break the story about the Super League, says Maguire was not pleased by how things were handled, and let Woodward know when they met at Carrington:
Bit more info on this from yesterday. I understand that Harry Maguire confronted Ed Woodward at the meeting over the players (who went out and played on Sky as the news broke) not knowing about the plans. Fair play to the United captain. https://t.co/Dsaon9njM8

Woodward has been criticised heavily by UEFA president Alexander Ceferin, who revealed that the United chief executive deceived him by declaring his support for a revamped Champions League, despite preparing to sign up for a rival competition.
The fact that the players and the coaching staff were also not informed shows how few people were in the loop before the announcement was made late on Sunday night.
Fans will also undoubtedly be angered by the ‘cloak and dagger’ nature of the talks, with United’s owners and CEO knowing full well that they would be on receiving end of a fierce backlash.
