Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has admitted he is flattered by reports linking him with moves to Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Spanish international is expected to leave the Bees at the end of the season, having rejected offers to sign a new contract and, asked about the interest being shown in him, Raya replied:

“Obviously it’s nice to hear that clubs are after you, asking about you and looking for you. These clubs are the biggest in the world. Every player wants to play for these clubs. I have a year left (at Brentford), and I don’t know what will happen in the summer.”

“I’ve said before that I’ve had two contracts that I’ve turned down. They weren’t the offers I was looking for. I want to push myself to the highest level. To the Champions League, the Europa League, and to win those trophies. I want to experience that and I’m at that stage in my footballing career.”

It is believed that Brentford are holding out for around £35m to sell Raya, which is a very steep price tag considering he will have just twelve months left on his current deal this summer.

Whether United will make a formal approach for the 27-year-old will likely depend on David De Gea’s future. The club’s current number one has turned down the Red Devils’ opening offer to extend his contract. However, reports suggest that an agreement is not far from being reached.

With that being the case, it is unlikely that United will also table a bid for Raya, especially if Brentford don’t lower their valuation of the keeper.
