“I Spoke To The President…” 85M Rated Nigerian Ace Speaks Out On Future Plans Amid United Links

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has signalled his intention to stay at the Serie A club this summer.

The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Nigerian international in recent months but, after speaking with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Osimhen says he is happy to remain in Italy:

I’m in Napoli. And I have great respect for my club. They are just rumours of the market. I’m fine here and I’ve never had such close relationships with everyone as at this moment. I spoke to the president, he is the one who decides, and he reassured me by explaining the club’s plans. I am happy with what he told me and the purchases are of quality: words were followed by deeds. I am very happy to play with Napoli and we will see in the future.”

Osimhen’s asking price is one of the main reasons why United and other teams haven’t made an attempt to sign the player. Napoli are believed to be holding out for around €100m (£85m), which is seen as pretty excessive.

De Laurentiis is not someone who is usually easy to negotiate with, though, so driving down the valuation is also not something that is particularly likely. For United, who are believed to be looking to sign a new forward before the transfer window closes, Osimhen’s latest remarks are likely to push them towards considering other options.
