“I Am Told…” Journalist Reveals United Are Lining Up Summer Swoop For 70M Rated Ex Chelsea Star

Manchester United are seriously considering making a move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham next summer, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The reporter, who has a growing reputation when it comes to reliable stories on Chelsea, claims the former Blues striker could make the switch to Old Trafford:

“I am told that Manchester United are keen on signing Abraham in the summer.”

Abraham joined Roma from Chelsea for €40m last year, but the London club included a buyback clause that means they can re-sign the player for €80m (£70m) in 2023. At this stage, it doesn’t look as though Graham Potter’s side will target the England international, with their sights firmly set on RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Whether United would be prepared to pay a similar fee for the 25-year-old, though, it is up for debate. He has scored just twice in 10 appearances for Roma this campaign, which is a poor return when you compare it to the other forwards that Erik ten Hag’s side are targeting.

PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo has bagged 13 goals in all competitions, while Brentford’s Ivan Toney has hit the back of the net eight times.
