How United Could Line Up Against PSG: We Name Our Eleven For The Champions League Clash

Manchester United’s convincing win against Newcastle at the weekend has lifted some of the pressure off manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the congested fixture schedule means games are coming thick and fast with a trip to face PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Ligue One champions lost their first two league games of the season but they have come back to win their next five so they will be heading into the group stage match in good form.

United fans will certainly be worried about the damage the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will cause, considering United’s poor defensive record this season, but the Red Devils could cause a few problems of their own.

Press the next page as we predict who will be included in United’s starting eleven tomorrow evening.

GK- David De Gea

The Spaniard couldn’t have done anything to stop Luke Shaw’s own goal against Newcastle and he is expected to retain his place for the game at the Parc des Princes.

Solskjaer has rotated his goalkeepers for cup games, with Dean Henderson having been picked for the two Carabao Cup ties so far, but it would be a massive surprise if he did something similar in the Champions League.

RB- Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The 22-year-old got his first senior goal with his superbly taken strike at St James’ Park at the weekend so it should have given him a massive boost to his confidence after a subdued start to the season.

Wan-Bissaka will hopefully relish the challenge of coming up against Neymar, who will be fit to play after being rested for PSG’s league game on Friday evening.

CB – Victor Lindelof

The Swedish international was reinstated to the line up for the win over the Magpies and despite another poor performance, he is expected to keep his place in the starting eleven.

Neither Lindelof nor Bailly have looked convincing when they have been given the chance this season and it is a major worry heading into the game in Paris where they will be coming up against the likes of Kylian Mbappe.

CB – Harry Maguire

After a nightmare start to the season, it showed great character from the United captain to put in the sort of performance he did against Newcastle. As well as getting on the scoresheet, he coped pretty well with the Magpies’ forward line.

Maguire will need to be at his best tomorrow night with PSG undoubtedly posing a much greater threat. It will be interesting to see how he gets on.

LB – Alex Telles

The Brazilian is fit and available, and while selecting him to start in this fixture is somewhat of a baptism of fire for his debut, the entire point of signing a new left-back was to strengthen the team for these type of games.

Telles should be well-rested, having started his last game for Porto before the international break, and it could provide the Red Devils with an added threat on the left-hand side at the Parc des Princes.

CM – Scott McTominay

Solskjaer may opt for Nemanja Matic, but the Scot improved as the game went on against Newcastle and may benefit from starting his second game in quick succession.

McSauce has certainly not been himself at the start of this campaign, but you would trust him to put in a performance in such a big game, with neither Matic nor Fred having made a case for themselves to start.

CM – Paul Pogba

Many would like to see van de Beek given a start but Solskjaer’s decision to rest Pogba at the weekend does indicate that he was being saved for the match against PSG.

The Frenchman needs to show more than he has at the start of this season, having failed to score or register a single assist in the Premier League so far.

AM – Bruno Fernandes

The Portuguese international is increasingly becoming the talisman of this team. His presence in midfield always gives United a greater chance of winning games.

Fernandes will be going up against the likes of Leandro Paredes and Marco Veratti tomorrow evening, who will be looking to shackle him, so he will need to be at the top of his game.

RW – Juan Mata

After his excellent display against Newcastle, the Spaniard is deserving of another start. There may be concerns about whether he will track back as much as Solskjaer needs versus PSG but he will cause problems for the opponents.

Mata got in between the lines regularly at the weekend, and he will be expected to do the same tomorrow night.

CF – Anthony Martial

The Frenchman will return after being suspended for the Newcastle game on Saturday. He hasn’t started the season in the best of form, having yet to score in any competition, but his threat on the counter-attack will be needed.

Transitions will be absolutely key to getting a result in Paris, and Martial’s ability to break with pace could prove vital.

LW – Marcus Rashford

The 22-year-old’s brace at St James’ Park would have done his confidence a world of good, and he will certainly be aiming to get on the scoresheet again tomorrow.

Rashford is a big game player, and he will be looking to target PSG’s right-hand side and get in behind with his pace on the counter-attack.
