Manchester United fans were dismayed as their team forfeited a 2-0 lead to Spanish outfit Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday evening.
Many Man Utd fans took to Twitter to air their concerns – much of their ire was directed at England international Harry Maguire, after he scored an own goal which allowed the Spaniards to draw level.
Manager Erik Ten Hag did not escape unscathed either, as some United fans lambasted him for his substitutions on the night – here’s what they had to say on social media.
Hard luck, we have to bounce back in the second leg.

Good luck to Maguire at another club next season please.

Awful awful subs by Ten Hag. Bruno is missing the 2nd leg anyway so why take him off? Martial? Antony?

Don’t ever play Maguire again

In the game against Sevilla, United took a 2-0 lead in the first half, thanks to a brace from Marcel Sabitzer. United failed to put their opponents to the sword, however, as they found a way back into the game after an own goal from Tyrell Malacia in the 84th minute.
In added time, disaster struck. A header by Youssef En-Nesyri struck Maguire, wrong-footing David De Gea in the United net and levelling the scores.
The draw means United will still have it all to do when they travel to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on April 20. The tie is still firmly within their hands – but they have made it much more difficult than it needed to be.
