Roma have made an approach for Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Telegraph. The Giallorossi want to sign the Chilean international on loan.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that he expects the former Arsenal player to stay during this transfer window, With Romelu Lukaku having departed for Inter Milan, supporters on Twitter don’t see the point of letting another forward leave:
No way..He is not going anywhere

Would be the most pointless thing ever so fully expecting it

If we pay his wages then the move is stupid. He's been poor, but the reason we're so desperate to get rid of him is because of his wages.

No ffs I want him to stay this season, we are lacking any depth so we need him
— KB_LUHG ? (@kabtastick) 9 August 2019
Nah they'd be no depth without him
— Regan (@reegzzzzzz) 9 August 2019
We have to keep him we are so light on experience in that front line … especially if we anyways going to pay his wages even if he goes to Roma

What's the point of loaning someone out and paying their wages? May as well keep him.
— Dan Arscott (@DArscott90) 9 August 2019
Right now, I wouldn't. We need players to step up, and he's got a bigger step than most.

Literally the dumbest move you could make
— GR (@el_xAM11) 9 August 2019
Bizarrely I think we need to keep him now

It is not known whether Sanchez would be open to a move to Roma, but he is unlikely to get regular game time this season, with the Red Devils possessing a lot of options on the wings.
Even so, the failure to replace Lukaku means the club have already weakened their forward line this summer, and to allow Sanchez to leave as well would further reduce the options that Solskjaer has at his disposal.
The 30-year-old is not expected to feature against Chelsea tomorrow, after having only played 65 minutes in pre-season.
