‘Has To Be Extended’ ‘A No Brainer’ United Fans Concerned As Report Raises Question Marks About 33 Year Old’s Future

Manchester United have yet to make a decision on extending Edinson Cavani‘s contract for a further twelve months, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Uruguayan international has impressed since arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, having scored seven goals in 23 appearances for the Red Devils

As part of the deal that brought Cavani to Old Trafford, the club do have an option to trigger an extension for a further year and supporters are now calling on the club to activate the clause:

One of the main reasons why United may be hesitant is that they could be lining up a potential transfer in the summer to strengthen their forward line.

As one fan mentions, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland would be the obvious candidate. Reports coming out of Germany in recent days suggest that the Norwegian could be sold in the summer if Dortmund don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Even so, having an experienced striker around for another year, like Cavani, would certainly add greater depth to the squad.
