Gareth Bale to snub Bayern Munich in favour of Premier League return

Gareth Bale is to snub Bayern Munich in favour of a return to the Premier League, according to reports.

The Welshman is set to leave Real Madrid this summer following his comments after the Champions League final, in which he stated he needed to “seriously consider” his future at the Bernabeu.

Bale started the final in Kiev on the bench, and has been unhappy with his lack of regular playing time with the European Champions, and will now look elsewhere in search of week-in week-out games.

Bayern Munich were heavy favourites to land the Wales international, having earmarked him as a long-term replacement for Arjen Robben.

However, The Mirror report Bale has told the Bundesliga champions he is unwilling to move to Germany, and instead will favour a move back to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old’s decision will come as a huge boost for Manchester United, who one of a number of English clubs interested in bring Bale back to the league which kick-started his career.

Bale began his career in England with Southampton, before a move to Tottenham in 2007. At White Hart Lane the Welshman established himself as one of Europe’s biggest talents, scoring 55 times in just over 200 appearances, which earned him a €90 million transfer to Madrid in 2013.

Having already signed Porto full-back Diogo Dalot and Brazil international Fred, United boss Jose Mourinho sees Bale as the last piece of the jigsaw to complete his summer transfer business as he looks to challenge for the Premier League next season.

United finished the last campaign trophy-less, and 19 points behind title winners Manchester City.
