Ferdinand Claims United Will “Become Title Contenders” If They Make One Key Signing

Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says his former club will “become title contenders” if they sign either Victor Osimhen or Harry Kane this summer.

When asked which player out of the two he would like the Red Devils to recruit, Ferdinand opted for Osimhen, but he believes the addition of either striker would make Erik ten Hag’s side challengers at the top of the table:

“I think if I was talking about investing and looking after my money, I’d probably go for Osimhen. There’s resale value with his age at 24 years old. It’s gonna be a huge outlay. I’d take either. I’ve got be honest with you, if Manchester United add either of those two players you mentioned to their roster they become title contenders. On form, he’s [Osimhen] flying.”

As Ferdinand mentions, neither player will be available on the cheap. Osimhen‘s asking price is expected to be in excess of £100m, with Chelsea also said to be among his suitors.

Kane’s situation is slightly different. The England captain is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract, so that should lower his valuation, but Spurs have already made it clear that they don’t want to sell to another Premier League club, complicating any potential negotiations.

There are, of course, other forwards that United could pursue but Ferdinand has seemingly nailed his colours to the mast by suggesting Osimhen.
